   November 17, 2002. Three in One! Celebrating National Animal Sheltering Appreciation Week, a special spay/neuter stamp dedication, and the debut of the Sacrmento City Animal Care and Control's mobile spay/neuter clinic! At the event, Mayor Fargo presented a city proclamation to Hector Cazaras, Director Sacramento Animal Control, recognizing Animal Sheltering Appreciation week. Bob Reder, HSUS West Cost Regional Coordinator, spoke about responsible pet ownership and the role of the community in solving pet overpopulation, Ralph Meeks of the USPS spoke about the public attention given to an issue when it is presented on postage stamps.    North County Humane Society - 10-05-2. On September 20, our local post office in Atascadero, CA, held an official dedication and unveiling of the new Spay/Neuter Stamps. The Mayor, Council members and San Luis Obispo County Director of Animal Services were in attendance and spoke to the crowd about the needs and our discount spay/neuter program. The 5th grade class of San Gabriel Elementary School wrote essays about the importance of spay and neuter and it's effect on the community. The USPS donated the poster to our shelter to be auctioned off at our 7th Annual Elegant Auction, A Toast for Tails on October 5. The poster raised $675 and the highest bidder donated the poster back to us to display in the shelter.
