Bensalem & Philadelphia Raise Awareness!.
In August, Janice Mininberg, Director of Education for the Women's Humane Society in Bensalem, PA, scheduled special events with the Bensalem Post Office and the Philadelphia Post Office to celebrate the stamps with four other Philadlphis Metropolitan organizations: Penn SPCA, Morris Animal Refuge, People/Pets Partnership, and the new Philadelphia Animal Care and Control Association.
Channel 6, Comcast Network TV 8 and radio station KYW covered the September 24th event. Nicole Wilson of WHS spoke about the importance of raising awareness in the community and introduced representative from four local animal welfare organizations. Each organization's representative explained the services that they provided the community. After the ceremony Wilson and Holly McGurgan of WHS offered information to members of the public on adoption, proper pet selection and spay/neuter. On September 25th, Wilon provided photos of animals available for adoption and informational brochures at the Fox Chase, PA Post Office for their special "pictorial cancellation" of the new spay/neuter stamps.
